Board Management

The Somali Medical Research Institute is governed by a Board of Management endorsed by the Minister of health. The Board consists of a Chairman, five appointed members. The Board is responsible for all the policy matters of the Institute.

Standing Committees of the Board

Currently, there are four Standing Committees of the Board, namely:

1.Scientific Programmes Committee:

Responsible for scrutinizing, evaluating and approving research programmes, performance and output of research projects.

2.Staff and Finance Committee:

Reviews staff needs, determine staff needs, determines staff promotions, and is responsible for financial and development needs.

3.Audit Committee:

Oversees all audit functions of the Institute.

4.Infrastracture and Development Committee

Research Centers and Programmes

The Research Centers of SOMRI are created by the Board of Management of the Institute. These Research Centers are expected to focus on specific areas of national and/or strategic importance, and they are centers of excellence which will emphasize and articulate the respective areas in which they have been given mandates to do research. The Board, in conformity with the national objectives, may reorganize the mandates of these Research Centers as it may deem appropriate
